This year, while canning over 40lbs of peaches, I found myself feeling like throwing away Peach Pits was kind of a waste. I guess my old foster grandams constant “waste not want not” sunk in further than I thought.
I did a Google Search of Peach Pit art and did find quite a few unique ideas out there. Idea 1, Idea 2, 192 more ideas.
This fall, I am helping my children’s Elementary School make a Seed Library. I decided to make a Fairy Seed house out of our peach pits and I glued other types of seeds, rocks and sea shells to the house as well. Hopefully this house will be magical enough to spike an interest in gardening for some of those young kids.
The only advice I have to give is to make sure you fully dry your pits before you begin your project. I boiled the pits and then dehydrated them to ensure all molds were killed off and new rot did not have a chance to grow.
